Hello Friends

Gosh it's been a while, I have missed you all so very much. Although crafting has been the last thing on my mind I have missed that too, but I've missed just chatting to you all.

I thank each and everyone of you for all your thoughts prayers and messages that you have sent for Claire and Toby and us as a family. We were so surprised and saddened to hear that we are not the only ones that have gone through losing a baby/ babies, and my heart goes out to you all, it doesn't matter how long ago it happened they are still your baby's and so sad they are memories to hold and to cherish.

I have not been in here for a while as Claire has had a complete breakdown and poor Toby is hanging on by a thread. We are all so scared he's going to break soon. When Evie was born he had only been at his new job for 2 months- ish and was still on the probation period. Although they were so pleased with his work before he took time off to grieve, when he went back they started the probation all over again and are putting so much pressure on him and he's not coping at all well as he is so worried about Claire and, keeping a roof over their heads if they decide not to keep him on, it's so unfair. I can't believe a time when a couple have been dealt such a sad ordeal, and as parents you want totake the pain away and make everything better, but we can't. We have never felt so useless. We go over Claire's everyday on shifts. Erica (MIL) goes over most mornings, I go over from 12-5pm and Paul does 5-7pm until Toby gets home. Our life pattern is so different now and we are all so so tired.

The inlaws are away on holiday this week in Portugal, and Paul is away too, for work, so it is just me Claire and Toby. Claire has some wonderful friends that I can call on if I need a break. I also need to get back home for the little addition to Drakes Field Cards, it's our little " Half pint " aka Ellie. She is coming up to 10 months old and is knee high to a grass hopper but has a Great dane size of love to give. I found her on the Blue cross web site and fell in love immediately. In between seeing Claire, I went to see Ellie everyday for 2 weeks for an hour or so every day, so that we could get to know each other before all the paperwork was finalized  and we could bring her home, we even got Claire out of the house to meet Ellie one day, and it was love at first sight. this little bundle has just snuggled into our family life, even although she is going through the terrible 2's at the moment and wants to chew everything. It might end up me taking her to the dentist to have her teeth out, ( not really )! Ellie has eaten a lot of my crafting items. When I have given in and had a snooze in my workroom chair thinking she was  sound asleep on my lap, only to wake up to roses, boxes, and even a plug chewed to pieces. So pleased I'm paranoid about electricity and it was turned off. needless to say we have lifted everything off of the floor now.

Enough about me now. I would love to know what you have all been doing while I have been away. I need to try and get back into some kind of routine. We have been told we all need to plan a daily thing to achieve and a weekly thing to achieve. I can only think of crafting, but need some umpf to do it. I did make Claire and Toby an anniversary card as you can see, and I sat up all night to make it as Paul said I couldn't buy them one they would appreciate one of yours more. So this is what I came up with, as Claire now associates daffodils with Evelyn, because it was Mothers day the last day they spent with Evie in the hospital, and the nurses sent Claire a vase of daffodils and a message from Evie. Heart braking for them both.

This teddy is a 1/3 of the side of her, but she insists on taking it out for a walk or a wee. it's so cute to see her carrying it around with her.

I just wanted to call in and say hello to you all as you have all been so kind with your thoughts and prayers. I think there is still a long way to go, but knowing you are all here really is a blessing. Thank you all so Much from the bottom of my heart.

I will be back soon,I feel I need to.

Much love to all of you, and thank you for being here for us, I can't put into words how much you all mean to me. XXXX

  1. Hi Tina, it's all good to see your post this evening.
I don't think a day has gone past these last few months when I haven't wondered how you all are. I'm sorry to hear that Claire and Toby have been having such a dreadful time, they will get through all of this, they will never forget and will gain such strength from their experience. I know I did when I lost my babies - all you can do is be there for them, I'm sure that your new little bundle of fun will help you all to put some smiles back on all of your faces.
I love your card, the daffodils are so very perfect.
You take care my friend, we're all still here thinking about you, your mojo will return when you're ready.

    1. Hi Angela

Thank you so much for thinking about us all this time, I know we will never forget, and in time we will get through this awful time and will gain strength that she touched our live for just a brief moment and made such a big impact.

I'm so sorry to read that you have lost babies, my heart goes out to you so much Angels X.

My little bundle is sat with me on my work chair as I speak. Even though she is tiny she still demands the majority of space. I'm thinking of putting legs on her dog basket and sitting in it myself, it's got a beautiful cushion in it. Spoiled or what!!

So glad you liked Claire's card. Thank you again Angela. Paul has told me I need to get back to normality. I just don't know what that is at the moment.

      Sending you big hugs too

  2. Hello Tina,
I'm so happy that you feel strong enough to pop in, and want you to know that I have thought and prayed for all your family since that awful day.
If it is any help, it is 45 years for me and it is true that time does help. I never forget, and always have a quiet day on "that" day.
Take care, look after yourself because they need your support and I think crafting will help you, when you can be bothered to do anything. We will still be here, looking for you.
    Love and God bless,

Thank you so much Maureen, that means so much. My goodness we just don't know the half of what people have had to go through. 45 years is a long time, but doesn't make it any less painful, and we all need our special little quiet days. Thank you for sharing with me Maureen.

  3. Tina, lovely to have you back, I have been checking to see if you have. You take as much time as you want we will all still be here for you. I am so sorry to read that Claire is not good. What and added worry for you all, especially poor Toby who is trying to do his job and still grieve plus worry about Claire, yes in this day and age firms don't care! They just want the work done. You will have to make sure you don't become ill yourself with trying to look after every one! What a wee cute your new member to the family. Vicks vapour rub is good to stop chewing rub a very small amount on things, they don't like the smell or taste. Harris didn't take long to find out about the taste and smell. Early this year when I had this terrible virus thing and I used Vicks to help he wouldn't come near me as I smelt of Vicks. He's 9 yet he remembered. Your card for Claire and Toby is gorgeous.
Take care, just take a day at a time. Hazel X

    1. Hi Hazel

It's so lovely to hear from you again and to know you will still be here, thank you! Life is hard at the moment, but nothing we can't deal with as a family thank goodness. Toby's firm would be the worst for letting him go ( hopefully they won't) as he was held in the highest by the BBC. He only left to be closer to home when our baby was due. I'll be OK as long as Claire is OK.

We had a good day today, we even laughed at something on the telly, and i saw a smidgen of my Claire Bear again, and that meant so much to me.

Thank you for the vick's tip. I will get my pot out tonight. I need to coat under the bed big time as she thinks that is her own personal toy box, shoe's included.I only have a left footed flip flop left.

      Thank you Hazel, talk soon

  6. Happy morning to my friend Tina, oh how I have missed you, been worried but of course knew you had a lot going on. It is to be expected that Claire, Toby and the rest of you will have reacted the way you all have, we never know in life's tapestry how these things will affect us but the main thing is to be there for each other, don't try to be strong, grieve as much as you can but also know that little Evie will always be a part of your lives. Oh how I remember this time so well even though it was 8 years ago, seems as fresh now as it did then.

I am sure that Toby will be OK, my Dad always said, 'what will be, will be' and it is so true. What ever happens with his job is, I feel, destined to be.

The anniversary card you have made is absolutely stunning, I so love the way you have done the daffodils, any chance of a tutorial on them when you feel up to it.

So what has been happening with me, well I went into hospital on the 15th April to have both my ovaries removed as I had 2 very large cysts on them. Op all went well and I came home 3 days later. I was in a lot of pain but expected that, went to the wound clinic 5 days after the op to have the clips removed, only to find that 3 of them had been put in wrongly, they had to get another nurse to hold me down whilst they twisted each of them out, oh my goodness did I scream..........the tears were streaming down my face, and I kept saying that I was sorry, I ask you a grown woman of 68 crying like a baby. Anyway the upshot of that was that I got a massive infection in the wound, the pain was so bad I asked for Dr for some antibiotics but that didn't help so I contacted the wound clinic again, I have been going to see them every couple of days for nearly 5 weeks now, but am pleased to say that at last the final area that was infected appears to be healing, have got another appointment tomorrow and am hoping when they take the dressing off that the area has healed over, fingers crossed. My hubby has been so good but even he is fed up with it now, he said he is going to get a red cross and blue light fitted to our car...........cheeky devil.

Anyway you keep in touch as miss you terribly, even if it is just to say hi and let us know how things are going especially with Ellie, she is adorable by the way.

Stay strong, safe, healthy and happy, hugs, my friend, June Smith xxx

    1. Hi June

I've missed you too. It has been the most difficult time in our lives, but reading your very private message of your loss it's heartbreaking, and I'm so sorry for your precious losses you mentioned in your previous message, but so pleased they are so happy now.

I cannot imagine what you have been through June. The op sounds bad enough, but the to take the clips out only 5 days later sounds barbaric. I felt your pain just reading this. I'm just so pleased you are on the mend, I hope your next appointment was good news.

I will look forward to doing a tutorial. I said to Paul that you had asked for one, and he said, at last maybe you can get back to some kind of normality. all being well I will do one at the weekend.
      Thank you June

  7. Hello Tina,
I have been checking in from time to time as you have never gone out of my thoughts and prayer. What a time of it you have all had and I'm so very sorry that Claire has been so unwell. It's not surprising though . I just hope and pray that she begins to feel better very very soon not just for her sake but for everyone who loves and cares for her.
Please take care of yourself too - maybe popping in here from time to time will help you! I'm not being selfish , honestly , I really mean it!
Your little doggie is lovely - are you it was her who chewed everything! She looks much too cute to do a thing like that!
Your card Tina is beautiful and the daffodils are so realistic! You have a real talent for flowers as you get colour and shading just spot on.
We had a Robin pay us a visit into the conservatory last week , I think it was. He just hopped in. They are so friendly aren't they! I had to gently shoo him out as he couldn't find the door! I mustn't ramble on! Lovely to have you back! Take care my dear!

I think of you and your family every day, the devastation that has happened to you all will take quite some time to come to terms with. I'm so sorry that Claire and Toby have the added stress of Toby's job problems in addition to their grieving for their little Evelyn, and they and you must grieve, as hard as it is, it is best not to hide it away. 22. Hi Tina

It's lovely to hear from you again but it's with the mixed emotions that Claire, Toby and all of you understandably feel grief so deeply and are still hurting so much. You are all in my thoughts and have been ever Since.

It's so unfair that Toby has to struggle with work as I'd have thought paternity rights would give him time off. I am so pleased your Claire Bear came back for a glimpse, that's the best thing I've heard today.

Such an adorable little pup, The right dog appears at the right time and I feel Ellie will be a big part in everyone's starting to see the good in the world again. I may have to give Billy a different nickname as I call him "little dog". Ridiculous as he stands about 27" at the shoulder and weighs 30kg!

I hope you are able to do more crafting, we all know how good it is to help with any problems we have or just to relax (wishing I could take my own advice lol). The card is stunning, beautiful daffodils.

We'll all be here, when you're ready. Hugs to all the family and Billy sends cuddles to you and Ellie. He's sent you some baby pictures, I've emailed, check your junk folder if you've had nothing from the two of us. Same applies though, when you're ready we're here.

    Hugs, T xxx

    1. Hi T

I read your email this morning and thought when I get back from Claire's I would reply. My word T you are having such a tough time at the moment and you still find time to write that long email, bless you. I will reply to that tomorrow and chat more.

I love the fact that you call Billy little dog, and we say to visitors I hope you're not scared of Rottweilers, and then the midget appears.

  24. Hello Tina flower,
Claire and Toby's anniversary card must have been the hardest card you have ever made because deep inside you know that it wouldn't be for them however much you wanted it for them. Their card is beautiful flower and it comes from the one lot of people who understand what it is for them. Poor Claire, as i know that feeling oh so very well and i wouldn't wish it to come to anyones door, but trying to lift yourself up from that deep, deep well of grief and distress is just so very hard. I know that you have read our various comments and stories of what we have suffered our selves flower but it wasn't to make you feel sorry or anything like that for us, it was so you knew that when we say we understand some of us, we really do and know just how hard it is to go on and pick yourself back up. It never goes away flower but what i will say is you learn to deal with it better. A mother would move heaven and earth to take away the pain that their child is going through, but sometimes you just need to accept that you can't, but you're there to pick up the pieces when she is ready. I hope that Claire and Toby both get the help or understanding that they need, and as for his employer i don't think very much of them to be putting this poor lad under even more pressure when he is trying to grief for his child and trying to hold on to what's left at the moment of his wife. I hope flower that some time soon you may see a smile even the tiniest on the face of your beloved wee girl and that she turns that dark corner soon. Sending hugs and my prayers for all of you lovely lady and know that i hope your prayers are answered soon,
    love and crafty hugs

  25. Hi Norah

How lovely to see you from here again, Thank you Norah.

Claire & Toby are finally seeing a councilor together. It has taken this long to find someone that likes to assess them together and then decide if they need to do separate counseling for fear of upsetting each other. It's going to be a long slow road. My heart goes out to them, but all we can do is be there at the drop of a hat when bad day comes with a vengeance. I have to say this week I have had Claire to myself as everyone else has been away for work or on holiday. We have had tears & Laughter, but yesterday one of her work colleagues came over to see her for the 1st time. A difficult day, but another first achieved so it won't be so bad next time.

I wish I could wave a magic wand and make everything at it should be. If only!

Thank you for your love & hugs Norah, I'll pass them on

    Big Hugs

  26. It's lovely to see you back Tina. What s beautiful card, I'm sure Claire and Toby loved it and appreciated the stunning daffodils that you made for it. I do hope the counselling helps them, they need all the professional support that they can get. The saying that time is a great healer is true and I pray that the day soon comes when Claire and Toby can start to look forwards to happier times. We all feel equally concerned for you and Paul. Parents push their own emotions and concerns to the back when their children need them but you need to consider yourselves too. No doubt your new addition will bring you joy - once you've had all her teeth out! - pets are a great comfort as well as good company. My love and hugs to you all and God bless. Love, Pat x

  27. Hi Pat

Lovely to see you here again too. Claire & Toby did like their card and it's now in Evelyn's room. Claire & Toby go back on Wednesday to see the Councillor, they seemed to like her and found her easy to talk too, so that's a good start. Last week was tough going for me as I was on my own, now the inlaws are back from holiday & Paul is back home after a week away for work, so maybe I can catch up on some work around the house or garden, Weather permitting.

Our new addition is cute, she has a way of looking at you that melts your heart, but when you wake in the morning to find a pair of Paul's shoes have been pulled out from a box under the bed to find she preferred the right foot and had chewed one side of the shoe completely, and also the right shoe of a pair of new wedges (their mine not Paul's )was also chewed. We think she has an accomplice. We think that might be Mo the cat, as my shoes were off the floor. I think Mo knocks them on the floor for Half pint to chew knowing that she will be in trouble in the morning. Don't you just love Em!!

Love & hugs to you too Pat, Thank you

    1. Hi Wendy, no sorry, I didn't receive your 1st message and it's lovely to hear from you again, I would not for one moment think you ignored me. Bless you Wendy.

Ellie has taken over the house, and has made herself very much at home, and we dote on her. She's too cute not too.
